The pesticides with granted permission for control of pestiferous organisms in production of tomato, pepper, cucumber, aubergines, pumpkins are reviewed. Deposition, adsorption, penetration and distribution in vegetables are strongly determined by nature of active ingredients, product formulation, number of tretamnet and effects of environmental factors on tenacity and persistence were discussed. MRL, harvest intervals, number of treatments permitted are given, and pesticides suspected as endocrine disruptor on European list are apostrophized. Thermal resistance in processing for residues persistence is important. It was concluded that timely and broad permanent education of vegetable producers and consumers is needed for safe plant protection and increase of health food safety. The necessity of harminization of our pesticide legislative with EC and WHO ones are underlined.
