Plant lice are economically the most important vectors of phytoplasmas, especially in plantation of citrus, temperate fruit trees, vegetable crops and timber (Heteropsylla cubana). Phytoplasmas cause diseases of several hundred plant species. Among the crop plants most severely affected are tempporate fruit trees. These diseases on temperate fruit trees are caused by different phytoplasmas belonging mainly to two phylogenetic classes, Apple proliferation and X-diseases.
