Weeds are a major problem in the production of poplar seedlings, along with harmful insects and pathogens. Weeds decrease both the quality and quantity of the reproductive material. The potential of herbicides in weed control was investigated at the Experimental Estate of the Institute of Lowland Forestry and Environment from Novi Sad, Serbia. In order to suppress most weed species, mixtures of several herbicides were applied. Herbicides were applied after planting of woody cuttings, but before sprouting of poplars and weeds. The evaluation of herbicide efficacy was performed after 15, 30 and 45 days. Evaluation of herbicide phytotoxicity was performed using EWRC scale. The combinations of herbicides were very efficient in weed suppression at the studied locations.
