Situation in the Slovak agriculture after the EU accession

The contribution deals with an analysis of the situation in agriculture in 2004 in connection with the Common Agricultural Policy of the European Union. It evaluates the agriculture development in terms of production and economic performance. It informs about factors affecting the level of profit/loss and it analyses the development of basic economic indicators on the base of explored situation. In 2004, the performance of agriculture (measured through the gross agricultural production in constant prices of2000) was increased in comparison with the previous year. It was increased also in comparison with the average of 2000-2003, out of which the plant production was increased significantly and the animal production was decreased. The agriculture reached the positive profit/loss (in the volume of 983 million SKK), but it was lower in comparison with the expected profit/loss calculated through the model simulation. From the point of legal forms, agricultural co-operatives reached a faster inter-annual dynamics of the profit/loss improvement.
