Clonal selection was used in fruit woody crops as an alternative way of selection for improvement of selected varieties. Negative and positive selection applied during clonal and subclonat selection and individual testing of plants led finally to collection of better adapted genotypes bearing desirable traits and having more stable yield characteristics. Concrete example how to use successfully these principles is shown in this contribution.
