Tobacco beta-1, 3-glucanase from Nicotiana plumbaginifolia and cucumber chitinase were introduced via Agrobacterium mediated transformation into the genome of potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) cultivar ETA with aim to increase fungal resistance. Plant transformation vector contained both genes fused to the tissue specific inducible polyubiquitin promoter and selection neomycin phosphotransferase 2 gene. Expression pattern of introduced chitinase and glucanase genes was observed beneath the periderm in the cortex of transgenic potato microtubers. In vitro antifungal assays did not show a clear increasing of tolerance of transgenic microtubers to selected fungal pathogens
