The aim of this study was to determine the nutritive value and effective degradability of dry matter in the maize hybrids during the milk-waxy stage of maturity. We used the hybrids (Mesnil, Chambord, Queen, Aude, Meridien, KX 13 93 and Omero) with a different number FAO and the corn types: dent and dent x flint. We harvested the whole maize plants in 13.8. 2003. The content of ash, NDF, ADF, hemicellulose and cellullose was determined to be higher for dent maize and the content of starch was higher for dent x flint maize hybrids. The parameters were optimal for the harvest of maize. In sacco experiments were carried out on three cows with the large rumen cannulas. The effective degradability of dry matter was from 51,4 % to 57,2 % for the whole plant maize. We found the differences in the rate of degradability (c- parameter) between dent x flint (higher) and dent type.
