The monograph deals with breeding of dairy breeds of sheep. In the monograph are reported results of a number of experiments aimed at creation of sheep populations with better milk efficiency, good milkability and state of health in udder. There were used modern methods of estimation of genetic parameters and breeding values in sheep, progressive methods to determine important functional and morphological characteristics of udder, inclusive of its linear evaluation and assessment of cistern size in udder by means of ultrasound as well as methods connected with composition and quality of milk. A number of breeds and crosses of dairy breeds bred in Slovakia were analysed for this purpose.
