In year 2003, the occurrence of Fusarium species and other fungi on three barley cultivars (Express, Madonna, Nitran) were evaluated in localities Buccany, Sladkovicovo and Viglas - Pstrusa. The low frequency (0-8.67%) of the Fusarium species was recorded, namely the following species: F. nivale, F. poae, F. sambucinum, F. solani, F. sporotrichoides, F. tabacinum. The most frequent species was F. poae. The highest frequency of Fusarium species was recorded in locality Viglas - Pstrusa. The species Alternaria sp., Aspergillus niger, Helminthosporium sativum occurred in association with F. poae. The different morphological and cultivation features were recorded within isolates of F. poae and F. nivale due to heterogeneity in analysed population. The following coincident species occurred in barley seeds: Alternaria alternata, Alternaria tenuissima, Alternaria tritici-maculans, Helminthosporium sativum, Epicoccum nigrum.
