The climatic factors influence the production ability of individual trees and ecosystems. The highest forest trees production is mainly connected with favorable soil water regime. The main aim of this paper is analyze the soil water changes influence upon the production ability of durmast oak (Quercus petraea). The research was carried out during 10 calendar years (1991 -- 2000) in the area of Tekov. The changes of soil water (to the depth of 50 cm) on the production ability and the diameter increment index of trees were observed using the model of linear regression. Calculated regression coefficients, after using the statistical tests, show that these are statistically insignificant from the zero value, except for July. It means that the analyzed factor (soil water changes) significantly does not influence the diameter increment of oak.
