Effect of slug-asfly mixture on the yield parameters of spring barley

Influence of slug-ashfly mixture applied into soil solely or in combination with NPK fertilizers on yield parameters of spring barley was investigated in pot experiment which was established in vegetation cage located in areal of Slovak Agricultural University in Nitra. Achieved results showed that slug-ashfly mixture when was applied at the rate of 3 t per ha positively influenced yields of grain and straw of spring barley. Its effect was higher and statistically significant if the mixture was applied together with NPK fertilizers or on well fertilized soils. In such case its application positively influenced also quality parameters of spring barley grain resulting in reduction of crude protein content on one side and increase of starch content and portion of grains of the 1st class on the other side. This treatment also reduced content of Cd and Hg (significantly) and Pb (insignificantly) in barley grain in comparison with variant which was exclusively fertilized by NPK fertilizers. Content of Cr was increased significantly, however its content did not reach the Cr level of unfertilized treatment. This positive interaction slug-ashfly mixture and NPK fertilizers on heavy metal contents in spring barley grain is very important from the viewpoint of reduction the level of heavy metals entering into food chain and it confirms suggestions about possibilities of SAFM utilization in plant production. Inorganic fertilizers and/or nutrient supply in soil in deci-sive extent determined yielding effect of slug - ashfly mixture utilization. From the viewpoint of their effect on spring barley yield the slug-ashfly mixture rates of from 30 t per ha to 150 t per ha applied together with NPK fertilizers seem to be unreasoned because they acted depressively in comparison to the basic rate of 3 t per ha of slug-ashfly mixture.
