The paper presents particular problems in the area of timber marketing and trade in the Slovak forestry sector with orientation on timber prices. It also provides analysis of historical development of particular spruce and beech assortments prices in Germany during December 2002 till August 2004. Price development in Austria is analyse for spruce, fir, larch, pine and beech during the period 2000 till September 2004. The results can be used in strategie and tactical preparation of harvesting process, tim of felling, assortments pricing and slection of trade partners.
