The contribution deals with paid project support and direct payments in 2004-2006. Providing public funds, the most finances of the Sapard and the Sectoral Operational Programme Agriculture and Rural Development were distributed in the southwest of Slovakia. In the case of the Rural Development Plan the most public sources were concentrated into the northern and eastern parts of the Slovak Republic. On the contrary, majority spatial distribution of the direct payments per ha of utilized agricultural area was opposite to the investment support (exception was the Rural Development Plan - significantly influenced by the agroenvironmental payments), i.e. that most financial support aimed to northern and eastern regions. Considering all supports (project and direct ones), they showed that most aid (per ha UAA) directed to the northern and eastern regions of Slovakia. Predominant form of the direct payments changed the major distribution of the investment support. Thus, the direct payments form the major spatial allocation of distributed support in the regions of Slovakia.
