Se estudió el tubo digestivo a través de las microscopías óptica, de transmisión de barrido en adultos de Rhynchophorusg palmarum (L.). este sistema es tubular, de constitución convencional, asociado con numerosos sacos aéreos y tráqueas. Faringe y esófago poco diferenciados, externamente muestran prominente musculatura. Internamente la faringe presenta el lumen ocluido y pocos pliegues invaginados. Por su parte, el esófago se observa ensanchado y ostenta un lumen conspicuo. El proventrículo presenta proyecciones cuticulares internas que ocluyen el lumen y actúan como un filtro. La primera región del ventrículo registra abundantes ciegos gástricos, regularmente distribuidos. El proctodeo se presenta profusamente doblado, con seis largos túbulos de Malpighi que se adosan al tubo digestivo, hasta el cardias. Las evidencias morfológicas no permiten sugerir que el tubo digestivo, en adultos de R. palmarum, sea la única zona de entrada y salida del nematodo fitopatógeno Bursaphelenchus cocophilus (Cobb).

English. The morphology and ultrastructure of the digestive canal in adults of Rhynchophorus palmarum (L.) was studied using light microscopy, transmission and scanning electron microscopy. The canal is tubular and its structure is conventional with numerous tracheoles and large number of aerial bags. Pharynx and esophagus with conspicuous muscles. The lumen of the pharynx is closed and with few internal folds. The esophagus is widened, it's lumen is conspicuous. The proventricle shows numerous cuticular internal projections which close the lumen acting as filter. The first portion of the ventricle beset with abundant and regularly distributed gastric caeca. The proctodeum has numerous cuvatures and six long Malphigean tubules, adhered to the alimentary canal. The morphological evidence suggests that the alimentary canal of adult R. palmarum may not constitute the only way of access or exit for the nematode Bursaphelenchus cocophilus (Cobb).
