Harmfulness of the causative agents of damping off and rot in beet

The bibliography within the last 25 years about the harmfulness of the damping - off and root rot of beet has beet carefully studied. The authors from different countues affirm that the harmfulness of the pathogenes complex, causing damping-off and root rot of beet is expressed in decrease of laboratory germinability of the seeds; rotting of the germs before sprouting (up to 78%); damping off (up to 70%); in formed roots - necrosis of the root and leaves. This results in thinning of the stand, decrease of productnity by 15-20%, reduction of the sugar content with several points, aggraviating of the technological value of the root plants. As soil inhabiting microorganisms, the harmfulness of the agents of damping and root rot in sugar beet is connected with the soil s temperature, humidity and acidity. In this relation important factors are the agrotechical activities too.
