Transgression in Tobacco Lines cv Basma | Трансгресивни прояви при линии тютюн от сортотип Басма

Transgression in tobacco is still not well documented although from biological point of view it certainly is of interest for plant breeding. Similarly to the heterotic effect, which may occur in F1, the appearance of transgressive forms in F2 and the next generations would be useful for some breeding tasks. Limited number of investigations in this field have shown that transgression appeared more frequently in complicated hybridization. Our investigations are also in agreement with these results. In the present study, several transgressive tobacco lines cv Basma are presented; these lines dominated over both parental forms by some important for tobacco breeding characters such as higher biological power, increased number of leaves and longer vegetation. The line with higher positive transgression by productivity dominated over three tobacco cultivars included in hybrid combination with 24,2%, 31,9 and 37,6%, respectively.
