Evaluation of the genotypic variability potential of fibre flax (Linum usitatissimum L.) cultivars in the conditions of North-East of Belarus was realized on the basis of data of the diallel analysis of the genetic control of the quantitative characters which determined the yielding capacity of flax fibre and seeds, as well as in accordance with the analysis of the combining ability of fibre flax varieties. In course of the realized research there were selected the donor cultivars by the traits of their productivity as well as the hybrid combinations perspective for the practical selection. There was revealed the domination of the additive effects of genes in the genetic control of fibre productivity traits: plant height, commercial length, halm weight, fibre weight, linear density. Nonadditive gene action (domination, epistasis) proved to be the determinal factor in the genetic control of seed productivity traits (boll number, seed number per plant). On the basis of information on the combining ability of fiber flax cultivar diallel crosses (F1 - F3) and the genotypic structure of the quantitative traits there were selected donor cultivars Lira and Prizyv 2 by their productivity indices, as well as hybrids LD 147 x Prizyv 2, Vesna x Prizyv 2, Lira x Prizyv 2, Lira x Vesna, G1071/4 x Prizyv 2, which could be used as sources of new initial material (lines, transgressive forms) for practical breeding
