The aim of this study was to monitor concentrations of Cu, Pb and Zn in soils of the Central Spis region (Slovakia), a long-term contaminated area. Soil contamination is caused especially by ore mining, processing and treatment. Soil samples contained higher proportions of mobile forms which corresponded to the following sequence: Pb more than Zn more than Cu, while for mobilizable forms the sequence was as follows: Cu more than Zn more than Pb. Higher proportions of mobile fractions were detected in samples taken from soils with acidic pH. Statistical processing confirmed a relationship between the percentage share of Pb and Zn in the mobile form and the level of pH/KCl, which was significant for Zn: r = -0.53. The relationships for Pb and Cu were insignificant.
