In 2006-2008, a phytocoenological survey was carried out in selected areas in the Czech Republic. Braun-Blanquet cover-abundance scale was applied. The size of one phytocoenological releve was 100 square m. In total, 28 phytocoenological releves in sugar beet stands were recorded. The number of weed species varied from 0 to 22, the average was 7.71. Spring annual weeds (Chenopodium album, Amaranthus retroflexus, Echinochloa crus-galli, Amaranthus powellii) and perennial weeds (Cirsium arvense, Convolvulus arvensis, Elytrigia repens) occurred most frequently. Crossbreeds of Beta species (weed beet) cause considerable problems.
