Changes in serum copper and zinc levels in dogs with bile duct obstruction

In this study, serum levels of copper that is known to cause severe hepatic damage by hepatic accumulation either due to primary hepatic insufficiency or secondary bile duct obstruction was investigated in dogs in which bile duct obstruction was clinically detected. Serum ALT, ALP, GGT and total Billiribin levels showed a statistical significant increase(P0.01) Serum copper level showed statistically significant increase (P0.05) and serum Zn level showed significant (P0.05) decrease in dogs with obstructive jaundice.
