Effect of rotylenchulus reniformis on nitrate reductase (E.C. 1.6.6.1) activity and other biochemical parameters of Mung

Investigations on biochemical changes were carried out in green gram cultivar "Dhauli" inoculated with Rotylenchulus reniformis. Eleven amino acids were found to be common in all four treatments. Higher concentrations of various amino acids and amides were detected in each treatment except L. histidine. Total sugar and chlorophyll content in leaf samples of inoculated plants were decreased whereas, an elevated level of total sugar was observed in leaf samples of fertilized plants and root samples of all the treatments. An increased percentage of crude protein, nitrogen and potassium were observed in all the treatments over uninoculated plants but phosphorus content was decreased in all sets of plants. The activity of enzyme nitrate reductase (NR) was decreased in both leaf and root samples of nematode infected plants whereas, it increased in fertilized plants.
