Good land prepration in paddy fields specially puddling has been known as one of the most important factors in weed control. A trial has been carried out in Rice Research Institute(Rasht) and Rice Research Station(Chaparsar) in 2003-2004 with 8 treatments and 3 replication for investigation on type of equipment, number of puddling and time of application. Conventional methods and rotivator were used once or twice at 20 and 10 days befor transplanting. Transplanting has been done after puddling and leveling in late May. Sampling included number of weeds, and yield as the most important factors. Some other factors including tiller&rsquos speed, time of puddling, dry weight of weeds, time of hand weeding has been measured. The weeds of two sites: were: Echinochlo crus-galli(Barnyard grass), Cyperus difformis(Umbrella sedge), Scirpus mucronatus(Rich field bolrush), Sc. Juncoides(Blue rush), Alisma plantago-aquatica(Commonwater plantain). So, The results of two site showed that conventional equipments at 20 days before transplanting once or twice of puddling was the most affect on reduction of weeds and increasing the yield.
