Effects Of Different Insecticides On Esfandiaria Obesa Popov

Esfandiara obesa Popov is one of the specific pests of oak trees and reported as a native pest for north western of Khuzistan provinces of Iran. Because of feeding on oak leaves, sever damage (100% on infested trees) reported to oak forests in this region. In this study some effective pesticides and bio-pesticides were compared on first and second larval instars of the pest. Also, different controlling methods such as control of the pest on earth, on tree trunk and on branches were examined for more effective products. The products used as treatments were: Dimilin® with oil carrier, Dimilin® with powder carrier, Green muscle® (a products of Metarhizium anisopliae var. acridum), Malation® and control treatment (water). Experiments were disigned in complete blocks with 4 replicas and were repeated twice in two years. The results showed that Green muscle was more effective than the other treatments (with the mean of 97/3- 100 percent mortality on larval stages) in different experiments same as phosphoric pesticides. Dimilin with oil carrier was the second effective product (with 70-83/8 % mortality). Product of Beauveria bassiana had no any considerable mortality on the larval stage. Survival of spores (for Green muscle on tree foliage) was studied by different application period of spraying. The results showed the highest mortality rate (95/9-100) happened 3 days after spraying. In the other treatments fungal efficacy reduced gradually (69/3 %= mortality rate 10 days after application). This work guided us high potential of a bio-pesticide controlling a major pest of oak forest. It seems that after complementary studying, using Green muscle, Dimilin with oil carrier and then Dimilin with powder carrier can be apply for controlling the population of this pest.
