To study the agronomical and morphological characterstics in 36 safflower spineless genotypes, an expriment was conducted in Dry - land Agricultural Research Station, Sararood, Kermanshah. Traits including flower colour, days to start and completion of flowering ( DSF , DCF) , days to maturity (DM), plant height (PH), main and lateral head diameter per plant (MHD /P,SHD/P) , number of heads per plant (H / P) , number of secondary branches per plant (SB), number of seeds per head (S / H), kernal thousand weight (KTW), Seed yield (SY), oil content (% Oil), and oil yield (OY) were measured. Analysis of variance showed that safflower genotypes were significantly different for all of the characteristics. Genotypes No. 2 , 16, and 29 had the lowest DM. The highest seed yield belonged to genotypes No. 2 (1700 kg/ha), and 7 , 14 ( more of 1600 Kg/ha). Mean and variation range were for DM and % Oil 253 and 245 - 260 days, 26.2 and 22.5 - 30.7 %, respectively. Highest phenotypic and genotypic coefficients of variation were obtained for SY, H / P , and OY, respectively. Negative and significant correlations were observed between DM and SY, and also with OY. TKW was positively correlated with oil and seed yield. Although TKW and % Oil were negatively correlated. Based on Ward cluster method genotypes were classified into five groups. Genotypes that were superior for % oil and SY grouped in Cluster No. II and III, respectively. The earliest genotypes were in Cluster No. III.
