To study the agronomic characterstics in nine sunflower open polination varieties and one hybrid (Azargol), an expriment was conducted based on RCBD with 3 replications in Dry - land Agricultural Research Station, Sararood, Kermanshah in 2004 - 05. During growth season agronomic traits such as maturity , plant height , stem and head diameter, thousand kernal weight , oil content, oil and seed yield were measured. Results showed significant difference in most of the charaters. Sor variety had the lowest day to maturity. The highest stem diameter belonged to Azargol, Armaveski and Record varieties ( more of 20 mm). The highest head diameter was related to two varieties Azargol, and Favori (15.2 and 14.7 mm, respectively) and the lowest related to Sor and R453 (11 mm). Record (50.3 %) , Zaria and Azargol varieties had the highest oil content, respectively. The highest oil yield belonged to Azargol and Record (792 and 690 Kg/ha, respectively) and the least related to Sor (387 Kg/ha). Positive and significant correlations were observed between maturity and oil and seed yield.
