Integrated weed management of sugar beet using row width, planting date and cultivation in Dezful

In order to evaluation of some agronomical management on weed control in sugar beet this experiment was conducted at Safi-Abad Agr. Res. Center in 2002 and 2004. Tow planting date, September 16 and October 12, three row spacing, 50cm, 60cm and 60cm with every furrow removing, and five cultivator application, one and two time application at 4-6 and 6-8 leaf stages respectively and once plus hand hoeing, weedy and weed free checks arranged in split-split plot design with four replication in first year. Main plot, sub-plot and sub-sub plot specified to planting date, row spacing and cultivator respectively. In second year among above factors, only planting date and cultivator studied in a split plot design with four replication so that the main and sub-plot specified to planting date and cultivator respectively. Weed number counted after application of cultivator and weed fresh weight and root quality and quantity measured at harvest on early to mid may. In the first year planting date and row spacing have not significant effects on sugar beet yield and quality, weed number and weed fresh weight. There are significant differences among cultivator treatments for most of sugar beet yield and quality traits, weed number and weed fresh weight. Planting date changed significantly root quality traits such as potassium, sodium, harmful nitrogen, and purity and sugar molasses in second year. Whereas cultivator influence root and sugar yield significantly. The compound analysis showed that there were significant differences between years for sugar beet root quality and quantity, weed number and weed fresh weight. Planting date has significant effect on potassium and harmful nitrogen. Root and sugar yield, weed number and weed fresh weight significantly influenced by cultivator treatments. Different interaction effects were not significant for most of studied traits. The most prevalent weeds in two year were Cleome (Cleome viscose L.),Nalta Jute (Corchorus olitorius L.) and common mallow(Malva sylvestris L.)
