A new soybean variety 'Tachihomare' was developed at the Nagano Chushin Agricultural Experiment Station and registered as 'Soybean Norin 134' in 2006. It was selected from a cross between 'Tousan 149 (Ayahikari)' and 'Fsub(1) Choukou 1-28 (Ootsuru/Tachinagaha)'. 'Tachihomare' is a middle maturing variety with determinate growth having purple flowers, a gray pubescence and a narrow leaflet. It is resistant to purple seed stain and soybean mosaic virus strains -A, -B, -C and -D, but susceptible to soybean cyst nematode. Combine harvesting abilities of 'Tachihomare' are higher by its lodging resistance and rapid senescence after maturing. The yielding of the new variety is as high as that of 'Tachinagaha'. The seeds are large in size and seed coats are yellow. Protein content of 'Tachihomare' is middle and suitable for as 'Tofu'. It is also good for 'Miso' (soybean paste). 'Tachihomare' is recommended to Nagano Prefecture in 2006.
