A study was conducted to investigate the effect of basal dressing manure of nitrogen (10, 20, 30 kg/10 a) on yield and fruit quality of strawberry cultivar 'Yumenoka' raised in Aichi Agricultural Research Center on forcing culture. The nursery plants prepared by night chilling and short-day treatment were planted on September 3 and were cultivated by the raising culture method of strawberry. 1. Nitrogen application amount of 30 kg/10 a hastened the flowering of the 1st and 2nd flower- cluster. 2. The beginning of the harvesting time on the 1st fruit-cluster was hastened by increasing of application amount of fertilizer. But the 2nd cluster was later in inverse proportion to flowering. 3. When a basal dressing of nitrogen was applied at 30 kg/10 a, the annual yield increased about 18% compared to the control (20 kg/ 10a). Even though there is a tendency for a break in yields between January and February, the total yield about 13% increased. 4. When a basal dressing of nitrogen was applied at 10 kg/10 a, the annual yield decreased about 14%, and the total yield also about 6% decreased. 5. There was little effect of fertilizer application rate on the Brix and titratable acid content of 'Yumenoka'. From these results, it was showed that nitrogen manuring for strawberry cultivar 'Yumenoka' affects on the growth, yield and fruit quality, and the early and total yield increased when the basal dressing of nitrogen was applied at 30 kg/10 a.
