The improving efficacies of Hericium Gold∨_ containing fermented extract of Hericium erinaceum on acute hepatic dysfunction and alcoholic hangover were investigated via the effects on carbon tetrachloride (CCl₄)-induced hepatitis and ethanol overdosage, respectively. Oral administration with Hericium Gold∨_, especially at 100 mg/kg, attenuated the delayed excretion and blood clearance of bromosulphalein induced by CCl₄(1 ml/kg). Hericium Gold∨_ also reduced the increase in blood alanine transaminase (ALT) and aspartate transaminase (AST) activities following CCl₄ exposure.
