A new atraumatic penetrating hook called the Eagle hook was designed for use in patent ductus arteriousus (PDA) surgery. The blunt thick round tip of Eagle hook was used to pass the medial side of the ductus arteriousus safely. Suture threads were passed into the center hole of the hook and the hook was removed with a suture thread. This resulted in safe grasping of the ductus arteriousus. Five cases of PDA operations were safely performed by use of the Eagle hook.
