[Updating of potassium application rate for obtaining the standard yield of maize] | Kālija mēslojuma normas precizēšana kukurūzas standartražas ieguvei

The aim of investigation was to determine potassium off-takes with maize green mass and dry matter yield, and precise a rate of potassium fertilizer for obtaining standard yield. A field trial has been carried out on the Training and Research Farm Vecauce of Latvia University of Agriculture. In 2007, in experimentation of maize fertilization, using hybrid 'Tango', obtained average green mass yield with standard content 25% was 65.36 t haE-1. Nitrogen off-take with maize standard yield was 90.25 kg, P2O5 - 60.64 kg, but K2O - 117.02 kg. The off-take relation was N:P:K = 1:0.67:1.3. In 2007, investigation results argues, that for obtaining a high yield (green mass yield approximately 70 t ha with 20 % of standard dry matter content) the maize should to rich fertilize with potassium and its application rate could be even little higher than nitrogen application rate.
