On 22 October 2008 the Food and Veterinary Service announced that carrying out State surveillance and laboratory control is found sulphanilamide and others drug residues not only in Russian, Ukraine, Lithuanian, Hungarian, but also in Latvian origin honey. In Latvia, drug residues in honey were found for the first time. The sulphanilamide is the antimicrobial drug agent. The less determined amount of sulphanilamide in honey is 3 μg/kg. Being supervised by the instruction of the Food and Veterinary Service this honey should be eliminating.
