Factors influencing the technological orientations of students in basic school

In the present work the influences of home, family, kindergarten and school on the development of basic school students' interest in technics and technology were studied. Using the random sampling method the research included 15-year-old students from general education schools in different areas in Estonia. The main focus in the research was on directing the choice of children in choosing spheres of interest and activities, following the gender equality principle, attractiveness of subjects for different age groups, teachers' support in acquiring mathematical subjects, and on the interest of young people in different learning options and spheres of work. The research questionnaire covered the period from the pre-school age until the end of basic school.
