[Genetic polymorphism in certain genotypes of cucumbers and sunflowers]

The melting temperature of nucleic acids can serve as an indicator of the stability of DNA macromolecule and the investigation of DNA denaturation processes in diverse plant genotypes can provide information about base pair composition of the different DNA types, as well as about the heterogeneity degree of the hereditary material. In relation to this, in order to establish the level of genome complexity, the DNA melting temperature was determined and general processes of DNA molecules denaturation kinetics were studied in various genotypes of cucumbers and sunflowers. The thermal denaturation of DNA macromolecules showed that sunflower hybrids have higher melting temperatures as compared with cucumber genotypes. This fact denotes a higher stability of sunflower DNA macromolecules, determined by the higher G-C content. The heterogeneity level varied in dependence on the genotype and correlated with the maximum values of morphophysiological parameters determining the effect of hybrid vigor in the studied genotypes. The kinetics of denaturation processes, performed on two cucumber families, demonstrated that, in F1 hybrids, DNA macromolecules had a higher melting temperature and a higher level of heterogeneity in comparison with parental lines.
