Falcarinol and falcarindiol are two major polyacetylenes in Apiaceae family. These compounds were placed on the list of Natural Product with Antitumor Activity created by National Cancer Institute, USA. The largest amount of polyacetylenes occurs in plant roots. Celeriac as a root vegetable is not known very well worldwide. In many countries only leaf varieties (celery) are valued, therefore there are few studies on celeriac polyacetylenes. The purpose of this research was to analyse varieties of celeriac (Apium graveolens L. var. rapaceum) available in Poland in terms of polyacetylenes. Gas chromatography mass spectrometry method (GC/MS) was employed to analyse the content of polyacetylenes. Two polyacetylenes - falcarinol and falcarindiol were identified. The largest amount of falcarinol was found in Makar and Jablkowy celeriac variety and it was measured to be 25.34 and 22.37 mg/100g of dry mass respectively. Odrzanski and Luna varieties contained the highest amount of falcarindiol which was measured to be 10.13 and 12.55 mg/100g of dry mass
