Environmental impact reduction and reclamation of community landfill Radiowo [Poland]

Present requirements of landfill protection define proper reclamation of landfill areas. A development plan for those areas is presented and, as a case study landfill Radiowo near Warsaw (Poland) is given. The plan predicts creation of closed circulation of system for landfill drainage outflow waters and discharged waters from compost plant which will be used for irrigation of the landfill crown. Plant selection for biological development was preceded by detailed cataloguing of species which has been naturally invaded on the landfill side. For optimal solution of the closed circulation system, two sets of irrigation systems were designed. One of them is microirrigation and the second is surface irrigation from perforated pipes
