The study focuses in the importance of winter treatment of fruit trees against pests. Over the past years the use of mineral oils for the control of insects and pests had been gaining in importance due to both environment friendly properties and the fact that insects do not develop resistance. Winter treatments have become a compulsory measure in crop cultivation programs due to the growing number of apple (scales, aphids and mites), pear (pear suckers) and peach (mulberry, aphids, mites) pests. In the case of plums these measures are mostly unnecessary every year.
