Forty ischemic and hypertensive patients suffering from hyperlipoproteinemia and overweight have been examined. During 3 weeks they got the reduced antiatherogenic diet containing (kg a day) 0.071 of protein, 0.057 of fats, 0.19 of digestible carbohydrates, 0.021 of fibres. The diet caloricity was 1600 kilo calories daily, NaCl content in it was 0.002-0.003 kg. The patients were divided into 2 groups: a main group (MG) and a comparison group (CG), of 20 people in the each one. The MG patients got a bioactive food additive (BFA) containing chytosan in addition to the diet mentioned. The chytosan daily dose corresponded to 100% of the adequate intake level of 0.100 kg a day. The BFA tolerance was good. After the diet therapy course a heart rhythm lowered to 61-96 per minute in the MG, it did to 57-110 in the CG (the average one was 70 and 67 respectively). Systolic blood pressure fell by 21.0 and 18.0% in the MG and in the CG respectively, diastolic blood pressure did by 21. 0 and 17.0% respectively. Average daily body weight loss was 0.295 kg in the MG and it was 0.214 kg in the CG. Total cholesterin level decreased by 19%, low density lipoproteid cholesterin level did by 25%, glucose one did by 11% and fibrinogen did by 15% in the MG. In the CG those indices changed a little or did not change at all. Nitrogen renal and fecal excretions did not change in the CG, but in the MG fecal one increased by 29% and renal one decreased by 6%. MG patient stool became more regular and its weight grew up from 0.124 kg to 0. 164 kg a day. The conclusions have been made that chytosan had no negative effect on a human organism, its addition into antiatherogenic ration influenced favorably on patients and chytosan had effect on protein metabolism.
