2007

A two-season experiment (2001/02 and 2002/03) was conducted at Lagawa area to study the effect of five plant densit, ies; namely, 80000, 120000, '160000,200 000. and 240 000 plants/ha, on growth and yield of'sesame. The effect of plant density on plant height was not significant, but the effect on number of branches and number of capsules per plant was highly significant. One thousand seed weight was only affected by plant density in the second season and had the highest value at the lowest density (80 000 plants/ha). The effect on seed yield/ha was highly significant, and densities of 120 000 and 160000 plants/ha gave the highest yields
