Recently especial stress has been given to food which is considered to be healthy and of high quality, fattened in natural and animal friendly conditions. Consumers consider the poultry products from sustainable, animal friendly breeding of much better quality. Therefore in poultry breeding are necessary new directions in technology and grater variety of high quality poultry products. Capon meat could therefore undouptedly represent a new product within poultry supply. Cockerels of two genotypes (Barred Prelux and Sulmtaler breed) were caponised at the age of 47 days and were at 87 days moved to grower houses with free access to pasture. At that time the capons of the genotype Barred Prelux had body mass 1,701 kg and capons of Sulmtaler breed had 1,454 kg and the feed conversion 2,57 and 3,11 kg/kg. Capons which were fattened outdoors and slaughtered at two ages (163 and 198 days) were of two genotypes. Capons of genotype Barred Ptelux have at the age of 198 days reached 2,906 kg live body mass at the feed conversion 6,238 kg/kg, the Sulmtaler breed reached 3,100 kg live body mass and the feed conversion 6,322 kg/kg, Into the analysis of fattening characteristics were included weight gains respectively body mass at the age 156 and 198 days, feed conversion ratio and vitality of the animals. Calculated was the Europen factor of efficiency EEF, which at capons of Barred Prelux was 136,82 and 106,14 at the Sulmtaler breed it was 104,79 and 94,58. With the results of this test we confirmed the hypothesis that between genotypes exist differences in optimal age for slaughter and that there are also differences in fattening characteristics between genotypes.
