Efficiency of milk production depends on the amount of milk produced per cow, composition of milk, reproduction of cattle and health status in the herd. Dairy cow nutrition has direct effect on the efficiency of milk production. On the farm with 15 ha of grassland, 6 ha of field area and 7 ha of forest, dairy cow nutrition management was introduced. 15 dairy cows, three heifers and three beef cattle are breed on the farm. In the time between May and September when the dairy cow nutrition management take place, the cows were on the pasture during day, but after the evening milking, cows stayed in the stable. In four months, during the adjustment of the daily ration to the milk yield and needs of dairy cows, the average milk yield in the herd increased for 1.5 kg (+ 11.8 %). The concentration of protein and fat in milk decreased, but this is common trend in the summer months. Increasing average milk yield per cow per day was reached simultaneously with decreasing level of used feedstuffs per kg of milk for 36.4 %.
