The production and purification of fully 13C isotope labeled U-[13C17]-aflatoxins B1, and G1 is described, and their significance as internal standards (IS) for the accurate determination of these carcinogenic substances in food and/or feeds by liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) is discussed here.
