Assessment of available P and K in Chai Badan, Lop Buri, Lam Narai, Chok Chai, Pak Chong, Khampaeng Sean, Tha Mai and Buri Rum soil series, with pH ranging from 4.5 - 7.8, by Mehlich - 3 extraction method was conducted. The relationships between the amounts of P and K extracted by Mehlich 3 and the amounts of P and K uptake by corn grown in the soils in greenhouse were elucidated. In addition, the comparison between the Mehlich - 3 extracted P and K and Bray - 2 extracted P and ammonium acetate extracted K were also investigated. Highly significant correlation between Mehlich - 3 extracted P and total - P uptake by corn was observed with r values of 0.863** and also between Mehlich - 3 extracted K and total - K uptake with r values of 0.930**. Amounts of P extracted by Bray 2 and K extracted by ammonium acetate methods, the conventional methods used in soil test laboratories of Thailand, were highly correlated with amounts of Mehlich - 3 extracted P and K with r values of 0.840** and 0.969** respectively. The results revealed that Mehlich 3 can be used effectively as a multielement extraction method for evaluating the available P and K in soils.
