This research project is a part of master research project entitled pattern of agroforestry development for increasing sustainable production and valuation of the watershed which has been carried out in Huayraeng -Klongpeed watershed covering an area of Muang, Borai and Khaosaming district, Trat province since 2003 to 2006. It has the purpose to assess pattern of agroforestry land use, diagnosis and building indicator for suitable land use. The results showed that watershed area covered about 447 square kilometer, there were four main types of land use, namely, Para rubber plantation, Mangosteen plantation, LongKong plantation, Durian plantation, Cashew nut plantation, Rambutan plantation, and Rambutan Mixed plantation. The watershed classes in this area about 70 percent were categorized in class 4 and 5. For the relationship between basal area and leaf area index, it found that the plantation of mangosteen, durian and cashew nut has high value of R sup (2) which were 0.8453, 0.8348 and 0.7158 respectively. For those of rambutan mixed, longkong, rambutan and para rubber had the R sup (2) value lower than 0.5. There were attributed to the variation of plant variety, seasonal and managerial factor. The study recommended that basal area can be used as appropriate determining suitable agroforestry landuse in the watershed, at plot, farm, and promoting zone level.
