Archaeobotanical studies of field crops in Armenia

Data concerning archaeobotanical materials of Armenia were collected since the beginning of the 20th century. At least 25 field crops have been cultivated in the VI-I millenium B.C. in the area of the Republic of Armenia, 16 of which cereals (Poaceae-Triticum vulgare, T. compactum, T. sphaerococcum, T. spelta, T. durum, T. dicoccum, T. monococcum, Hordeum vulgare ssp. distichon convar. distichon, H. vulgare ssp. vulgare convar. vulgare, H. vulgare ssp. vulgare convar. coeleste, H. lagunculiforme, Secale, Avena, Panicum miliaceum, Setaria italica, Sorghum), 6 pulses (Fabaceae-Lens culinaris ssp. microsperma, Vicia ervilia, Pisum sativum, Cicer arietinum, Vicia faba, Lathyrus), and 3 oil producting plants (Brassicaceae-Camelina microcarpa, Alyssum desertorum, Pedaliaceae-Sesamum indicum). 74 weeds belonging to 23 families were found out.
