This investigation covers two regions situated along the upper reaches of Topolnitza and Ogosta rivers, which were polluted in the past by arsenic and selenium from ore-dressing factories and mine waste stores in Chelopech and Chiprovtzi. The target was monitoring of the actual ecological situation comparing to our previous study. Meadow grass samples from pastures near the flood terraces of these rivers, as well as wool samples from sheep in both regions were tested. Samples were analyzed for arsenic and selenium content by ETA method in AAS Varian at a wavelength of 191 и 196 nm, respectively. The results obtained show that exerted efforts during the last 10-15 years to stop the arsenic pollution along the both rivers currents led to relatively normalization of arsenic content in pasture grass from flood terraces and in sheep wool. However, much higher than normal concentrations of selenium were registered in all samples.
