From Work Estimate to Standard Labour Unit

Precise knowledge of process routines are of the greatest importance in compiling work estimates in agriculture. The use of the new work estimate permits the comparison of work and production processes up to overall farm level under otherwise identical conditions. Sectoral statements on manpower potential in agriculture are also possible. The continuous traceability of the data is ensured, with the result that expansions are easy to incorporate. Data is exported from the program via interfaces. The software is available in three languages. The computer-supported work estimate thus provides a nationally and internationally useable tool for both the organisation of work and time planning. The standard labour unit (SLU) is a unit for recording the overall farm working-time requirement with the help of standardised conversion factors. The latter serve to record farm size in work-economics terms for the implementation of direct payments as well as structural-improvement and land-law mea-sures. At least 50% of the tasks that are essential for running a farm must be performed by the in-house workforce. The work effort involved here is calculated according to the ART work estimate.
