Fonnation of Bronze Turkeys for breeding under substainability conditions | Formaci6n de una estirpe de pavos bronceados para la cria en condiciones de sostenibilidad

RESUMEN.Se cruzaron machos de la linea de pavos G7 con hembras de la raza Batiskan Bronze con el objetivo de obtener una estirpe rustica y a la vez productiva en condiciones sostenibles para ser utilizada en comunidades campesinas. Los pavos Batiskan Bronze fueron seleccionados como reproductores por su rusticidad y la linea G7 por su elevada productividad lograda mediante seleccion durante trece gene~ raciones. Esta linea obtuvo un mayor porcentaje de postura (57 %), mayor cantidad de huevos puestos por pava alojada (52) y 36 pavitos por reproductora. El peso vivo de los hibridos a los 120 dlos criados en condiciones no intensivas fue de 4.4kg. Los hibridos resultantes de este cruce (Batiskan Bronze x G7) superaron a los reproductores en los indicadores peso vivo y conversion alimentaria.

Males of the G7 line of turkeyswere crosed withfemales of the BaliskanBronzein order to obtain a rustic stock and at the same time productive under supportable conditions to be used under in rural comunities. The Batiskan Bronzeturkeys were selected as breeders fortheir rusticityand the G7 for their high productivity, obtained by means of selection during thirteen generations. Thisline obtained a higher laying percentage (57%).a higher number of eggs laid per turkey hen lodged (52)and young turkeys per breeding female. Thehybirds resulting from this cross (Batiskan Bronze G7) surpassed the breeders as regards liveweight and food conversion. The liveweight of the hybirds at 120days of age raised on non intensive conditions was 4.4 kg.
