Efecto alelopático del boniato (Ipomoeas batatas L. (Lam.), sobre la germinación y crecimiento de cultivos y malezas

Conocer el empleo de algunas plantas con el fin de mejorar y proteger las cosechas, es de gran valor para las ciencias, y a su vez, poner al servicio de la sociedad el uso integral y generalizado de estos conocimientos constituye una primicia para el desarrollo de una agricultura menos contaminante y sostenible. El presente trabajo se realizó en el laboratorio de alelopatía perteneciente a la Facultad de Ciencias Agropecuarias en la Universidad Central "Marta Abreu" de Las Villas y la investigación de campo tuvo lugar en áreas del Centro Provincial de Capacitación, Experimentación y Extensión Agropecuaria «La Colmena», en la provincia de Cienfuegos, en los meses comprendidos de enero a junio de 2002, cuyo objetivo se centra en el análisis del comportamiento alelopático del boniato (Ipomoea batatas (L.) Lam.) en la germinación y desarrollo primario de diferentes cultivos y malezas. Para esto se utilizaron extractos acuosos del boniato al 100 por ciento de concentración v/v obtenidos con residuos vegetales de materia seca de este cultivo, además, se utilizaron los restos de cosecha (hoja y tallo) en forma de harina aplicándosele al suelo en diferentes concentraciones. Se observaron efectos estimulantes sobre los cultivos calabaza (Cucurbita sp.) , melón (Cucumis melo L.), maíz (Zea mays L.), sorgo (Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moerch), pepino (Cucumis sativus L.) y rábano (Raphanus sativus L.) y efecto inhibitorio en el frijol (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) y las malezas lechosa (Euphorbia heterophylla L.), bledo (Amaranthus crassipes Schlecht), verdolaga (Portulaca oleracea L.) y metebravo (Echinochloa colona (L.) Link.), presentes en el área de estudio.

To know the employment of some plants with the purpose of to improve and to protect the crops, it is of great value for the sciences, and in turn, to put to the service of the society the integral and widespread use of these knowledge constitutes a primeur for the development of a less polluting and sustainable agriculture. The present work was carried out in the Allelopathy laboratory belonging to the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences in the Central University of Las Villas and the field investigation took place in areas of the Provincial Center of Training, Experimentation and Agricultural Extension ''La Colmena'' in Cienfuegos Province from January to June of the 2002,which objective it is centered in the analysis of the allelopathic behavior of the sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas (L.) Lam.) on germination and primary development of different crops and weeds. For this research, aqueous sweet potato extracts, obtained from dry matter of vegetable residuals of this crops, were used (100 per cent of concentration v/v).Also, the crop residuals flour were used (leaves and stemt) directly applied on the floor in different doses. Stimulating effects were observed on the crops Pumpkin (Cucurbita sp.), Musk Melon (Cucumis melo L.), Corn (Zea mays L.), Sorghum [Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moerch], Cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) and Radish (Raphanus sativus L.) and inhibitory effect was observed on Bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) and weeds Lechosa (Euphorbia heterophylla L.), wild Amaranth (Amaranthus crassipes Schlecht), Purslane (Portulaca oleracea L.) and Metebravo [Echinochloa colona (L.) Link.]
