Banco de germoplasma de frijol del CIAP: fuente de resistencia a la roya

En áreas de la Estación Experimental Agrícola de la Universidad Central "Marta Abreu" de Las Villas se mantiene un banco de germoplasma de frijol que actualmente cuenta con 72 genotipos. Utilizando la siembra realizada en el mes de diciembre de 2003, bajo una fuerte presión de infección de roya, se evaluó la reacción a la enfermedad de todos los genotipos presentes, basándose en el procedimiento reportado por el CIAT de Colombia y que toma en consideración el tipo de pústula y la intensidad de la infección para agrupar las variedades en diferentes categorías de resistencia frente al patógeno. Los resultados indican que en dicho banco clasificaron como resistentes o con resistencia intermedia el 31 por ciento de los genotipos y fueron susceptibles el 69 por ciento restante. Todos los tipos de frijol (color y tamaño del grano), excepto para el tipo blanco, estuvieron representados por variedades resistentes. Se concluye que el banco de germoplasma puede constituir una buena fuente de diseminación al sistema de producción de frijol de resistencia a la roya.

English. Bean germoplasm bank of CIAP: resistance source to the rust (Uromyces phaseoli (Pers) Wint. var. typical Arthur. A bank of bean germ plasma that at now contains 72 genotypes stays in field areas of the Agricultural Research Station of the Central University "Marta Abreu" of Las Villas, Cuba. Using the seeding performed on December of 2003, under a strong rust infection pressure, was evaluated the reaction to illness of all the present genotypes. The evaluation was based on the procedure reported by CIAT of Colombia what takes in consideration the rust pock type and the intensity of the infection. According to this procedure the varieties are grouped in different categories of resistance reaction to pathogen. The results indicate that in this bank 31 per cent of the genotypes classified as resistant or with intermediate resistance and as susceptible the 69 per cent remaining. All the bean types (color and size of the grain), except for the white type, they were represented by resistant varieties. It is concluded that the germ plasma bank can constitute a good dissemination source, to the system of bean production, of rust resistance.
